ExxonMobil Guyana Ltd. has received the Errea Wittu floating production, storage, and offloading vessel, marking a major step toward production from the Uaru development in the prolific Stabroek block offshore Guyana.
Contractor MODEC Inc. delivered the vessel for integration into the project.
The FPSO will support development of the Snoek, Mako, and Uaru resources, extending ExxonMobil Guyana's rapid expansion across the deepwater block.
The vessel combines production, processing, storage, and export capabilities within one offshore installation built for demanding operating conditions.
Errea Wittu will be deployed approximately 200 km offshore Guyana in water about 1,690 m deep.
A spread mooring system will secure the vessel at the field and maintain its position as it receives and processes hydrocarbons from subsea wells.
The FPSO is designed to produce as much as 250,000 barrels of oil per day.
That capacity will make the vessel a substantial addition to Guyana's offshore production system once final preparations, commissioning, and the transition to first oil are completed.
Its processing equipment also includes gas treatment capacity of 540 MMcfd.
This capability will allow Errea Wittu to manage significant associated gas volumes alongside crude production, supporting stable field operations and efficient handling of the reservoir fluids arriving from the subsea infrastructure.
Crude oil storage capacity will total about 2 million barrels, giving the vessel extensive flexibility between tanker export operations.
The large storage volume is particularly important for a development located far offshore, where reliable production and coordinated crude lifting schedules are essential.
MODEC based Errea Wittu on its new construction hull design, which includes a full double hull and an expanded topsides deck area.
The larger deck provides the space required for the high capacity processing systems needed to serve the three resource areas.
The hull and topsides configuration reflects the growing scale and technical complexity of deepwater development in the Stabroek block.
Equipment must process large fluid volumes while maintaining dependable performance in a remote marine environment with limited direct access from shore.
Errea Wittu is also equipped with a gas turbine combined cycle system intended to improve energy efficiency.
By extracting more useful power from the fuel consumed aboard the vessel, the system is expected to help lower carbon dioxide emissions compared with less efficient power generation arrangements.
The vessel's digital architecture is designed to support future remote operations from shore.
This capability could give operating teams greater visibility into equipment condition, production performance, and process behavior without requiring every monitoring function to be conducted aboard the FPSO.
Artificial intelligence enabled systems will help predict potential equipment failures before they disrupt production.
MODEC also expects the technology to assist with emissions reduction and provide stronger process safety insights, giving operators additional tools to identify developing risks and manage complex offshore systems.
Following delivery, Errea Wittu will undergo final offshore preparation and commissioning work.
These activities will include verifying the performance of its production, utility, safety, storage, and control systems before the vessel is cleared to begin handling hydrocarbons from the development.
The arrival of the FPSO advances another large project within a block that has transformed Guyana into a significant offshore oil producer.
Its planned capacity demonstrates the scale of the Uaru development and the continued industrial buildout required to bring discovered resources into commercial production.
ExxonMobil Guyana operates the Stabroek block and holds a 45% interest. Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. owns a 30% interest, while CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Ltd. holds the remaining 25%, completing the partnership behind the development and its new production vessel.
Once commissioning is finished and first oil is achieved, Errea Wittu will add another major production center to ExxonMobil's Guyana portfolio.
Its processing capacity, large crude storage volume, efficient power system, and digital capabilities position the FPSO as a central asset for long duration development of the Uaru area.
